8th August, 2011 Self Assessment Statements late Again!

Around half a million Self-Assessment statements have still not been sent out.  So if you are due to make a payment on account by the 31st July 2011, what does this mean to you?

If your UTR (Unique Tax Reference number) ends with digits from 70 to 99, then there is a good chance you will be affected.  Though HMRC are saying that the majority will be sent out in time, and the remaining statements will be sent out soon.

Although you will be charged interest if you do not pay amounts due on time, you will only be charged interest if you do not pay the amount due within 30 days of receiving your statement.  So you do not need to worry (according to the HMRC website).  If you are an online customer, you will be able to see your statement online.

This all happened before in 2008, when around 600,000 customers didn’t get their Self-Assessment statements on time
